The tour to Heilbronner Hut cannot be described as an easy afternoon tour for the family. An undertaking of this sort ends no later than at the Konstanzer Hut because from hereon, the technical and physical challenges increase dramatically. From Schönverwallalm, the Verwall Trail up to Heilbronner Hut and back down is rated at S3 and demands high levels of stamina. The route starts at Arlberg WellCom and branches off to the right at the roundabout, up to the old Arlbergstrasse and the main road (Bundesstrasse). After crossing this, carry on to Hotel Mooserkreuz and turn left into the Verwalltal Valley. Follow the asphalt road past Stiegeneck Chapel. After the bridge that crosses Arlenbach River, a large meadow appears where you should take a right turn onto a gravel trail and follow the easy ascent to Lake Verwallsee and on to the Salzhütte. Continue from this little wooden hut on to the Konstanzer Hut, which is open from the end of June to late September. From the bridge before the Konstanzer hut, turn right through Schönverwall. At the first turning (* Silbertal variant ) continue straight on (right turn into the Silbertal Valley) and pass the Schönverwallalm, where a single-track begins (Verwall Trail). Cross the Rosanna River and then follow the steep uphill section for which you will have to carry your bike for around 45 minutes, past the Scheidseen Lakes (state border) and on to Heilbronner Hut. It is possible to continue to Paznauntal or Montafontal from here. Return to the Salzhütte, turn right over the bridge and ride along the southern shore of Lake Verwallsee until the next bridge. You can either stop here at Rasthaus Verwall for refreshments, or continue down the asphalt road to St. Anton am Arlberg.
